“Which company is which and how to deal with them.” |
The Who's Who of SBC Yahoo DSL Written by: Patrick Oborn - Jul 31, 2010 So you want SBC Yahoo DSL but you're looking for a bit more information? Make sure you know the company to which people are referring when they try to answer your questions. SBC is actually a group of several companies and they have as many differences as do completely separate companies. SBC traces its roots to the original Bell Company. It then broke off into the Southwestern Bell Company. Just a few years ago, SBC acquired Ameritech which offers service in the mid west. It also acquired Pacific Bell on the West coast and a few locations on the east. The behemoth of a company offers a service called SBC Yahoo DSL however the service is provided by the underlying companies which still operate much like separate companies. Recently SBC Yahoo DSL was introduced which was simply a branding initiative. The underlying service is SBC DSL. When signing up for the service, your experience may be quite different depending on which region you are in. When reading message boards or consumer group's comments on SBC Yahoo DSL, just make sure you know which region the person is talking about and don't take their comments too seriously if they're not in your region. Once again, these divisions are as different as separate companies because not too long ago they were separate companies. Also remember when reading chat boards and consumer groups that DSL service is highly dependent on your distance from the phone company so complaint people have about bandwidth may not apply to you as they could be farther from the phone company than you and therefore have a weaker signal. |
RANDOM TELECOMMUNICATIONS BLURBSYour company should look into deploying an MPLS Carrier-Class Metropolitan Ethernet Network to Lower Operating Expenses and Network Problems. Many people are not relatively familiar with T1 lines, therefore not being familiar with the product in question you wouldn’t know the reasons why you would seek a T1 provider. OC-3 Lines or (Synchronous Transport Module) STM-1x transfers data at speeds of 155.52 Megabits per second (Mbps). An OC-12 Line or (Synchronous Transport Module) STM-4x transports data at speeds of 622.08 Mbps or Megabits per second. Telecommunication service providers continue to build out and architect the communications infrastructure, specifically the 3G Wireless and 4G Wireless networks. A Virtual Private Network (VPN) can turn the web into a virtual universe that connects all of the many locations of an enterprise, enabling sensitive data to flow back and forth without the risk of interception. If you need help handling large call volumes for a small business, you can establish an automated call center for your business. Optical Carrier 768 or OC-768 Lines/ (Synchronous Transport Module) STM-256x transmits rates of data at a speed of 39,813.12 Megabits per second (Mbps). DS1 Broadband Conecuh County, Coosa County, Covington County, Crenshaw County, Cullman County Tier 1. In the very recent past, computers were a luxury in the home and business, now for most they are a necessity. A router is a computer with hardware and software that are usually designed to task routing and forwarding, generally having a specialized operating system, RAM (Random Access Memory), NVRAM, flash memory, and one or more different kinds of processors. ATT has SONET and Metro Ethernet options available at reasonable prices. While broadband via satellite may be a good choice for small, rural businesses with no other means of connectivity, satellite internet is not generally recommended for tasks other than web surfing, uploading/downloading files and sending/receiving e-mails. In reality what your are seeing are a bunch of internet marketing entrepreneurs who know little about dedicated service at all. When a T1 Line is used for Internet service, the other end of the circuit will be routed to the telecommunications service provider of your choice and the Internet service will be activated. Regardless of which T1 provider you choose, your Service Level Agreement or (SLA) should include guaranteed response times that are measured in minutes or hours, not days or weeks. A T1 Line is almost always the best choice for real-time video and audio conferencing, point-to-point branch office connections, streaming audio and video hosting, and much, much more. Digital signal 1 or DS1 is also known as T1 or sometimes "DS-1" is a T-carrier signaling service devised by Bell Labs. DS1 is a widely used standard in business environments. Are You Connecting high-density 10 Mbps Ethernet switches? Since their prices are falling rapidly, 10 Mbps switched ports are now being implemented. Surprisingly some small towns will have fiber optic capability when larger towns or cities do not. Our Telco's offer businesses last mile broadband connections for voice and data at very competitive rates. For the longest time, the T1 bandwidth was the most reliable, fast and cost effective way for businesses to acquire internet service. A fiber that is in use transmits light pulses and is called lit fiber and a fiber that is not in use is called dark fiber. This is overkill for most average-sized businesses and is extremely costly to upgrade from a T1 to a T3. As a business grows it is less costly and easier to add additional T1 lines than it would be to completely upgrade to a T3 line. In the late 1990s it was discovered that the real cost of building the fiber optics network was the installation of the cable and not the cable itself. There are many fibers that have never been used which are called dark fibers until they are lit. Offerings include T1 Voice and Internet Lines, DS3 Lines, Metro Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, Dark Fiber, Collocation, Point to Points, MPLS, VPN, VoIP and other related Telecommunications services. T1 lines configured as T1 Dedicated Internet connections allow business users guaranteed bandwidth of 1.5 Mbps both upload and download, plus a SLA service level agreement to assist in line reliability.
